Overview:
Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Fadzil M Hani gave an overview ofthe current research activities undergoing at CISIR. The objective of the talk wasto highlight the research areas and expertise at CISIR that may enable doctors/industrialists to mutually start new research projects and focus on the current problems related to biomedical engineering in Malaysia. Prof. Fadzil highlighted that current research in biomedical domain should be conducted along with medical doctors and industrialist to bring the research from laboratory to product.

Overview:
Professor Dr. Jafri Malin Abdullah from USM highlighted high-priority research areas that require focus for the betterment of Neurosciences Research in Malaysia. In his talk, he discussed current aspects of research in the Westas well as in South East Asian. He suggested that research in neuroscience needs more focus and several programs should be jointly organized.

Associate Prof Dr Shahrina Md Nordin has focused on contribution to the well-being of the communities. In this talk, several projects started by UTP were presented. UTP has set a direction towards a more concerted effort with long-term impact in its Coorporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) by focusing on two main domains. Various activities like donation and community services are conducted by UTP.

Associate Prof. Dr. Ahmad SobriMuda as Interventional Neuroradiologist at Department of Radiology, UKM Medical Centre focussed on the current endovascular treatment of neurovascular diseases. In his talk, he discussed challenges and issues faced by medical doctors in the treatment of neurovascular diseases. He highlighted that there is lack of proper diagnostic tools and application of engineering techniques may aid in providing solutions to medical doctors.

Dr Azura Mohd Affandi presented the current aspects of skin diseases in malaysia. The various projects to detect and diagnose the changes in skin were discussed. The focus of her talk was to find the solutions for dermatologists by means of developing detection and diagnosis tools using engineering approaches such as image processing, pattern recognition etc.

Dr. Asmaliza highlighted that Health research in MOH generates scientific evidences and information to support formulation of new policies, assessment of programs and policies, adding value to existing medical practices and informed decision making. Dr.Asmaliza said that the Research Agenda of MOH is based on national priorities and to meet the healthcare needs of the country.
