The modules are designed to provide basic idea of state of the art theory and practice of EEG research.

  1. The contents include brief theory, implementation, related articles and available sources of tools.
  2. The duration of each module will be 1.5 to 2.5 Hours.
  3. Upon feedback from the participants, the contents can be updated and improved.

Speaker Profile : Associate Professor Dr Nidal Kamel

Associate Professor Dr Nidal Kamel received his PhD (Hons) from the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland, in 1993. Since 1993 he has been involved in research projects related to brain signal processing, estimation theory, noise reduction, optimal filtering, and pattern recognition. His present research includes developing a technique for epileptic seizure detection, biomarkers for stress and major depressive disorder, and a high resolution technique for brain sources localization. Dr. Kamel is an associate professor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS and he is the leader of Neuro-Signal Processing Group at the Center of Image and Signal Intelligent Research (CISIR). In addition, he has published more than 150 research articles in various publications and book author for "Brain Source Localization Using EEG Signal Analysis" and "EEG/ERP Analysis: Methods and Applications".


Speaker Profile : Associate Professor Dr Aamir Saeed Malik
  Associate Professor Dr Aamir Saeed Malik received his PhD in information and mechatronics from Gwangju Institute of Science & Technology in South Korea. Dr. Malik is an associate professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and director of mission oriented research biomedical technology at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. He has more than 200 publications in journals and conferences, three books, 16 patents, 34 awards and a cumulative impact factor greater than 150. His research interests include biomedical signal and image processing, and computer vision. He developed methods for acne grading, partial epileptic seizure prediction, tracking EEG signals and biomarkers for major depressive disorder.



Speaker Profile : Dr. Wajid Mumtaz
  Dr. Wajid Mumtaz has been affiliated with Center for Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research (CISIR), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia. He has completed his PhD degree from Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of UTP in 2017. In addition, he accomplished his masters in computer engineering and bachelor in electrical engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Taxila, Pakistan in 2009 and 2005, respectively. Currently, he is working as a post-doctoral researcher. His research interest includes biomedical signal processing and applications, machine learning application to medical problem solving such as diagnosis and treatment assessment, adaptive noise cancellation for real-world data such as Electroencephalogram (EEG).



Speaker Profile : Dr. Hafeezullah Amin
  Dr. Hafeezullah Amin Dr. Hafeez is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at Centre for Intelligent Signal & Imaging Research (CISIR), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He has completed his PhD from the same institution in May 2017 with major in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and specialty in EEG signals processing. Prior to joining CISIR, he has received B.S (Hons) degree in Information Technology and M.S. degree in Computer Science from Pakistan in 2006 and 2009, respectively. He is involved in research work on long-term memory using EEG/ERP signals since October 2011. He has published over 40 articles in flagship local and international conference proceedings and peer-reviewed impact factor journals of IEEE/Springer/Frontiers with total cumulative impact factor above 45. His research expertise includes analyses of biomedical signals, including EEG, ERP, and ECG, Brain connectivity, applications of machine learning in cognitive neuroscience and intelligent expert system. He is a member of IEEE and EMBS, Society for Neuroscience and member of local Malaysian engineering and neuroscience societies.

Note: The fee is per person and includes lunch, refreshments and short course materials. A certificate of attendance will be given at the end of the course. Registration fees does not include travel and accommodation for participants. Participants are required to make their own arrangements.
